The Board of Fire Commissioners recently made the following appointments.
Captains Rodd Riesenberger and Steve Johnson have been promoted to Battalion Chief and will be assigned to the line.
Battalion Chief Riesenberger began his career with the District in 1997 and has several professional accomplishments. Rodd is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and is involved with Honor Flight, which provides services and recognition to veterans, most notably to the Heroes of the "Greatest Generation".
Battalion Chief Johnson has been with the District since 1999 and currently manages many facets of the organization. Steve is very involved in the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, where he has humbly served as a Family Escort to provide support to the family of a fallen firefighter.
Lieutenants Mark Quill, Brian Gebo, and Sean McGarry have been promoted to the rank of Captain.
Captain Quill will be assigned to the training office where he can call on his experience as a NY State Fire Instructor. Mark holds a Managing Officer credential from the National Fire Academy and is a true student of the Fire Service.
Captain Gebo will be assigned as the District's Community Outreach and Public Education Officer. Brian has done tremendous work with the community CPR program in recent years, leading to the successful CPR training of nearly all 6-12 year olds in the Greece Central School District.
Captain McGarry will be assigned as the District's Planning Officer where he will work to develop and update policies, plans and procedures as well as to guide the organization toward providing an unsurpassed level of service to the community.
Firefighters Joe Muniz, Chris Williams, and Nick Howcraft have been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and will be assigned to the line.
Lieutenant Muniz has been with the District for 16 years and is active with apparatus replacement and planning. Joe previously served in multiple leadership roles including Fire Chief of the Spencerport Fire District.
Lieutenant Williams is completing his studies in Business Administration and calls on his leadership experience as a Second Class Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy, where he served on the USS Nimitz and the USS Ronald Regan.
Lieutenant Howcraft has also been very involved with community outreach as well as Peer Support for fellow responders. Nick is also a Paramedic and has served in a leadership capacity at Gates Ambulance.
We would also announce the hiring of Firefighter Tyler Frankenberger. FF Frankenberger comes to us from the Rochester International Airport Fire Department. Welcome Aboard!
