As of January 2009, RRFD joined forces with the Monroe County & City of Rochester 911 Center or Emergency Communications Department (ECD) in a consolidation effort to provide Dispatch Services.
911/ECD has received calls for local emergencies since around 1990 and routed them from Tele-communicator's to our own Dispatchers. Today, calls are sent directly to the RRFD dispatch console inside the ECD and sent to us via radio broadcast, digital pagers and station or mobile data terminals. Career firefighters and technicians respond immediately when calls are received.
