The
New York Department of State’s Office of Fire Prevention and Control
(OFPC) urges all New Yorkers to make sure there are working smoke
detectors in their residence, as well as to clean and test them
regularly. The first few days of 2009 have proven tragic to the
citizens of our state given the loss of nine lives in residential
structure fires lacking operating smoke detectors.
It
has come to our attention that a group, calling themselves the
Firefighters Support Foundation is soliciting donation from residents
of Monroe County. The organization is NOT authorized by the Fire Department and has been referred to the New York State Attorney General’s Office. If you received a phone call or a letter from this organization please disregard it.
If
you have any questions regarding any Group Soliciting Donations for
Firefighters, please feel call me at 453-1201. Thank you for continued
support.
